Ethereal is placed in an alternate universe, on a planet known simply as Gaia. There is one large landmass split into three nations; Yuroil, Barbur, and Detret, which are tied to each other through constant exchanging and symbiosis of their economies. The three nations are at undeclared war with each other over political conflict, and though the details are unknown by many of the public, the tension translates into the attitudes of citizens against each other.
Yuroil is a commercial center; constantly trading and selling at a high profit, and exporting products into the other two countries while importing massive amounts of goods from Detret. Barbur is a completely agricultural state, growing all sorts of crops and trading them away, mostly to Detret, but also some foodstuffs to Yuroil. Detret is industrial, taking raw materials from Barbur and making anything you can think out of them. They have a pact with Yuroil to sell all finished goods to them, so that Yuroil can resell and make a high profit, but a lot is illegally traded directly to Barbur, and Detretian officals look the other way.
Technologically, Gaia is parallel to about the 1870's, except as far as weaponry, which is as advanced as current weaponry in our world, and science, which is pretty damn advanced. There are random aspects of life where they are as advanced as our current day, but there aren't things like cars or electricity.
The class system won't be started until we have just a few more characters, and only a couple classes will be started up until there are some adults in addition to the two headmistresses. Don't worry, though, it shouldn't take too long for me to get at least a couple classes started up.
Barbur: Nation with an agricultural economic system. Its capital city is Genrei.
Detret: Nation with an industrial economic system. Its capital city is Exius.
Elemental: One of the three Ethereal houses; people who can control one of the four elements. Possibilities include:Air Elementals; control of the wind and weather. Water Elementals; control of all water, regardless of form. Fire Elementals; control of all flame, able to generate energy. Earth Elementals; control over soil, rock, and plants. Ethereal Village: A village just on the other side of a thick forest from the academy, where most graduates live. Most do not travel to it through the forest, but following the brook around the edge.
Exius: Capital city of Detret.
Genrei: Capital city of Barbur.
Gifted: Any person with an unusual power, usually fall into one of the three house categories.
Mysticals: One of the three Ethereal houses; people who have unusual abilities. Some examples include:Witches. Vampires. Magi. Psychics. Summoners. Alchemists. Werewolves are counted as Mysticals because to be a Transformal, their transformation would have to be voluntary.
Norelan: Capital city of Yuroil.
Tranformal: One of the three Ethereal houses; people who can turn into animals at will. Werewolves are not included because their change is involuntary; they are mysticals instead.
Ungifted: Any person who does not have a power; usually do not live on Ethereal Island.
Yuroil: Nation with a commercial economic system. Original nation of the Diona family, closest to Ethereal Island. Its capital is Norelan.
